Julien Blaine - Performance

For some among Visual poets, the poetic work is not complete until it is expressed aloud, declaimed, played. Their compositions are like musical scores that presuppose a sound performance. For these artists, the use of the voice often has to do both with the meaning that the words convey and with the pure sonority that composes the words. To perform the poem means opening it to the sound dimension.

For Poetic Boom Boom Julien Blaine presents  “Hommage à Sarenco”, a tributo to his friend Sarenco in the way of a sound poem based on the allitteration of letter “o”, and “L’appel au linge” a poem about the origin and end of art history, followed by the video of the performance “Chute/Chut!” (1982), shot in Marseille by Blaine and Sarenco.
