Through her garments, Ziadi wishes to highlight topics such as youth, religion, social identity, and migration, specifically from Africa and the Maghreb. She incorporates her vibrant dresses within real environments to highlight their political quality. In the video Prophète (Prophet), her Migrant dress is worn throughout Marseille, appearing within the city’s public spaces. Probing questions around identity and belonging, Ziadi’s work illustrates the potential for fashion and design to communicate social agendas.

Samia Ziadi was born in Colmar, France, in 1986. She lives and works in Marseille. She studied graphic design, typography, and is a self-taught fashion designer. In 2016, her work was noticed by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac at the Festival of Hyères. She has exhibited at the AKAA Design Fair – Also Know As Africa (Paris), and the Anti-Fashion Festival (Marseille).
