What is my story? A body is my Globe.
And a body is my Home. The Body which travels everywhere with me. Taking, carrying, dragging the most important values around.
And what do I do from the Home I have at my disposal?
I Reach. Reach Out. To Feel.
To See. To Love. To Grow. To Act.
To act my dreams.”
A conceptual artist whose work is informed by her personal history, Dorina Vlakancic investigates the fragility and vulnerability of memory and life, along with themes of loss and absence. This installation is a result of an intimate dialogue with the space of Gallerie delle Prigioni, perceived by the artist as a physical “cell”, a mental and physical “home”, but also as a limit to overcome and escape.
Dorina Vlakančić born in Pola, Croatia, where she lives and works. Vlakančić works with installations, paintings, photography, and performance. She has been involved in projects focused on promoting Croatian artists in her country and abroad. She has been the President of HDLU (Croatian Association of Artists) of Istria and also the program manager for the same association, as well as for the Luka Gallery, Anex Gallery and Mul Gallery in Pula.
